Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website owners useful information.

Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the website you are visiting) or "third-party" (set by other domains through content embedded on the website, such as analytics tools or social media plugins).

Cookies can also be classified by their duration: "session cookies" are deleted when you close your browser, while "persistent cookies" remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

Our use of cookies is governed by the following regulations:

• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Regulation (EU) 2016/679
• ePrivacy Directive - Directive 2002/58/EC as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC
• Article 10/2 of the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data (which replaced, on 10 January 2022, Article 129 of the Act of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications)
• Documents of the Data Protection Authority (APD): theme page "Cookies and other trackers" and "Cookie checklist" (October 2023)

We classify the cookies and similar technologies on our site by purpose: strictly necessary, analytics, marketing and third-party content. Sections 4 to 7 describe each category.

Diaeta.be sets no first-party cookies on your device. The site uses your browser's local storage, a technology similar to cookies, for the items below. They record your consent choice or a feature you switch on yourself, so they do not require consent.

Your language is determined by the page address (/fr, /en, /nl, /de), with no cookie. These items stay in your browser and are not sent to us.

To erase these items, delete the site data stored for diaeta.be in your browser settings (see section 9).

Without consent: Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights measure the traffic and speed of the site. They set no cookie and store nothing on your device. Vercel counts visitors using a hash calculated from the request, which is deleted after 24 hours. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring the traffic and speed of the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Also without consent: Sentry records technical errors for all visitors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in fixing site failures (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

With your consent to the analytics category (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): Sentry can record a session replay for a share of visits and when an error occurs. All text is masked and media is blocked in the recording. Sentry also records performance measurements (tracing). Without your consent, session replay and tracing stay switched off. Sentry hosts this data in Germany.

We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. We do not track visitors on other websites and do not display targeted advertisements.

This category covers the DoctorAnytime modules: the rating shown in the footer and the calendar on the booking page. These modules load only after you agree to the "Third-party content" category in the consent window, or when you click to show the module in its place. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Once loaded, these modules come from doctoranytime.be, which sets its own cookie on your device.

The reading-mode settings are listed in section 4, because you switch them on yourself.

The site relies on the third-party services below. Their privacy policies apply to the data they process.

You have several options for managing cookies:

• Safari: Preferences > Privacy
• Microsoft Edge: edge://settings/privacy
• Opera: opera://settings/cookies

If you block cookies and local storage in your browser:

• The site stays readable in all four languages
• The consent banner reappears on each visit, because we cannot store your choice
• The article reading mode forgets your theme and text size
• The DoctorAnytime modules may stop working

Your cookie consent is valid for 180 days (approximately 6 months) from the date you gave it. After this period, we will ask for your consent again.

This duration follows the position of the Data Protection Authority, which considers that a period of 6 months is in principle reasonable for remembering cookie preferences.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting your cookie preferences or by clearing the site data (local storage) in your browser.

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activity tracked. There is currently no uniform standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

Our website does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your privacy preferences using the cookie consent banner and browser settings as described above.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data collected through cookies:

• Right of access: You can request information about the data we have collected
• Right to rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your data
• Right to restriction of processing: You can limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability: You can request your data in a portable format
• Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw your cookie consent at any time

Our website is not aimed at children. In Belgium, a child can consent alone from the age of 13. Below that age, the consent of the legal representative is required (Article 7 of the Act of 30 July 2018). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

When we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date and the version number at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through other means such as displaying a notice on our website.
